HOW TO CONVINCE HIM FOR LONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP?

my bf of 4 yrs left me bc he said if we have the ldr for 5 yrd yould destroy our lifes.And it is better for us to continue living without each-other.I feel so bad.He is all i want.But now i am ignoring him,i dont call but qe are in the same class same desk and he still talks like anything is alright,he says he feels alone but goes out everyday with this guy,never invites me for coffe and today hugged me,What to do?I WANT HIM TO TELL ME HE IS GOING TO TAKE THE EFFORT OF KEEPING A LDR.pLS HELP HOW CAN I DO THIS???
