Why don't i have ownership rights in fedora 15?

i can not delete Skype, which did not install correctly and does not work nor can i install it again. i would just delete Skype but it says i am not the owner i am the only user and i installed fedora. i am new to Linux so i'm not sure if i did not install something properly. how can i have the owner rights.
