Should a girlfriend be your number 1 priority at this stage in life?

Is it wrong if my girlfriend isn't my number 1 priority right now? I'm 23 and she's 21. We've been great friends for nearly 6 years, dating for 6 months. We attend different colleges, so it is a LDR. It's not that she's not important, I just have goals and dreams that I've had since I was a kid, that I still want to accomplish. To me, the relationship is just a small part of me.. I still have my own ambitions.. This came up in conversation and she feels as if she doesn't have much importance in my life, which isn't the case.. because i enjoy spending my time with her and no one else... I'm just not ready to devote everything to her when I still have goals and dreams for law school, opening international businesses. I guess what I'm saying is my main focus is my education and career, and then girlfriend.. is this bad that I put my dreams, goals, and ambitions before her? She's very upset because she doesn't feel as if I care as much about her, the relationship, as she does for me.
