My boyfriend wants a 'break' ?we're in a LDR?

me (21) and my boyfriend (20), have been together 5 years but two days ago he said he wants to take a break for a week or two but he still want to keep texting to see how each other is or how are days are going.. he knows im happy cos ive told him but he thinks i deserve to be happier and deserves someone much better than him. he then told me to watch friends (tv show) and just be positive and we'll see what happens, about 6 months ago we stopped talking and texting for about two weeks cos he said he needed space and has doubts about the relationship but really wanted us to work. It hurts me to hear him say that some lucky guy will catch my eye and make me feel so in love, im in love with him and no one else! He said its a break first and that he doesnt want to break my heart, the only way he accomplish that is breaking up with me, he told me he was crying and maybe it will work out and to keep my hopes up. its very hard to keep my hopes up when i feel so heartbroken that im going to lose the one guy that has made me so so happy and i do deserve him cos i love him will ALL my heart. I feel like ive given him my heart for 5 years and been so happy. He said he loves me and we have text one time to see how college is going and said we'd text last night at the usual time which is 10:15, but it never happened :( its effected me so much that i can hardly eat and have lost interest in things and im always crying. Does he have someone else or does he just need some space, or could he be insecure? ive told him the last night several times that hes what i want and everything, but how can i tell him again or should i just leave it? please someone out there i need some advice or help on this matter. Please no hurtful comments as i think im hurting enough right now :( thanks so much xx
