Bright red blood during/after sex?

My boyfriend and I have been having sex for about a year now. We both have only had sex with each other and always use a condom. Last night we were having sex (a little rougher than usual). After, we both had bright red blood on us. Could this be him breaking my hymen or something else? I am not concerned about STDs and it wasn't painful. I am just curious.
