If I bought land with phone sub station box already on it, should I be compensated for its presence?

I purchased a home with an old store on same property. Phone company has giant box right next to it and the lines are not buried very deep. They had paid former owner $500 for placement and future access to it. Contract doesn't state a time period of how long it is to be there so I asked them to move it and they told me it would cost $500,000-$1,000,000 to move it.They offered me the same $500 to sign a easement but I don't really want it there. Should I be compensated for more than original payment to former owner, or would I be out of line to even suggest them paying me more? The contract doesn't state anything about transfer of ownership either and what I have read contract would be void in this case
